Shipments of Apple headsets may not begin until the second half of 2023.

According to the most recent details revealed today by tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, mass shipments of Apple's long-rumored AR/VR headset may be postponed until the second half of 2023 due to unnamed "software-related concerns."

Although Kuo stated that bulk shipments of headset components are still most likely to start in the first half of 2023, he thinks fully assembled headset shipments may not start until the second half of the year. Even if Apple unveils the headgear earlier in the year, this delay may cause it to debut in the second half of 2023.

A good opportunity for Apple to reveal the headset and an SDK for programmers to make AR/VR apps for the gadget would be at WWDC 2023 in June.

Kuo previously claimed that Apple planned to unveil the headset at a January media event and begin mass shipments in the second quarter of 2023. Kuo is unsure whether the delay would result in the January announcement being pushed back, but he did note that an overly long period between a media event and mass shipments can hurt sales.
