An abnormally brilliant and persistent pulse of high energy radiation that traveled across the Earth on October 9 has been described by the American space agency NASA. According to the report, one of the brightest and most intense electromagnetic explosions, the gamma-ray burst (GRB), was the cause of the radiation. According to a press release on its website, the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope, Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory, and Wind spacecraft all discovered the GRB. The GRB 221009A event, which the space agency named, kicked off its Fermi Symposium in Johannesburg, South Africa.
