At first appearance, Apple's new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro appears to be everything that so many users have been requesting: a high-quality keyboard shell with a trackpad that finally enables using the iPad as a kind of laptop.
I can confirm that after testing it over the weekend that it accomplishes that same thing admirably. It's a well-constructed, comfortable keyboard case that makes working on the iPad a lot more convenient, or at least comfortable. Additionally, it is costly, with the 11-inch version starting at $299 and the 12.9-inch version at $349. (For context, an entry-level iPad will cost you $329 before any reductions; yes, a full iPad.)
Yes, the Magic Keyboard does, in fact, allow you to operate your iPad Pro like a conventional clamshell laptop. It flawlessly accomplishes the purpose for which it was created. Simply said, I'm not certain if the design is sound in the first place.
