It's time to stop tapping. YouTube started rolling out a new method of navigating videos on mobile, which involves a simple swipe.
The design team that created the gesture-based functionality claims that the new feature internally referred to as "swipey watch," has been in development for two years. According to Matthew Darby, product manager for YouTube Watch, "this is a rather substantial change to the page." They didn't make this change hastily.
Before, users of the YouTube app and website had to actively tap to switch between videos; today, users of the app may swipe left to see the video they just finished viewing and swipe to proceed to the next recommendation in the queue.
