Birthday Blog! - Google Assistant added to Google Maps

 It's my BIRTHDAY!!!

We have known for some time that Google Assistant, the company's voice-activated AI, would soon be integrated directly into Google Maps. At Google I/O 2018, they stated as much and said they were aiming for a summer launch.

Although Google claims it is happening right now, it didn't happen by the summer. Google Maps for Android and iOS will soon be able to use Assistant thanks to an upgrade.

While it will be available on both platforms, it will be slightly more powerful on Android, which makes sense given that Google has far more control over matters on its own territory. On iOS and Android, Assistant in Google Maps will allow you to manage the music, reply to emails with auto-punctuation, and handle the route. It will also be able to sign in and send messages through third-party apps like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Hangouts, Viber, and Telegram on Android.

Even while Google Assistant has been available on iOS for some time, not everyone would necessarily go out of their way to download the app in order to utilize it. With this change, it will now be prominently shown in an iOS app that many millions of people already use.
